Smeg’s designer appliances by Dolce & Gabbana set to top Xmas gift lists

Smeg has collaborated with legendary fashion house Dolce & Gabbana to create a collection of highly decorative, 50’s-style small appliances that will be going straight on the Christmas list of many a stylish home cook.

As homewares trend to the maximal, the Smeg x Dolce & Gabbana collaboration offers a great way to bring colour, pattern and a handcrafted aesthetic into the kitchen, without sacrificing performance in your appliances.

Smeg is renowned for stylish appliances that both look great and perform well. In the past, the company asked celebrated architect Renzo Piano to create designer hobs for them.

Now, D&G’s joyful, blue-and-white, maiolica-ware-inspired Blu Mediterraneo collection will bring to mind summer holidays in the Med, the blue of the Mediterranean, and favourite Italian dishes, on even the darkest of winter mornings.

The range includes an espresso coffee machine, two-slice toaster, citrus juicer, milk frother and coffee grinder, all made in Italy. A matching minifridge is coming soon. And, as you would expect from Smeg, despite the retro styling, these are appliances with all the latest features, such as adjustments for coffee temperature and water hardness on the coffee maker, and reheat and one-side-only options on the toaster.

This collection is the second resulting from the tie-up between the sometimes controversial Italian fashion house and the Italian appliance maker. Their first collaboration delivered the multicoloured Sicily is my Love collection.
