When the owners of an Edwardian terraced house in south London needed to re-purpose their bedroom work space as a nursery ready for the baby they were expecting, a garden office was the solution. ‘With just two-and-a-half months from when we started planning the garden project until our baby was due, we were on a deadline,’ says home-owner Billy, 32, a marketing director.

Access issues
With no time to lose, expert installers from Elite Garden Studios built the 3×4.5m garden office in just two weeks – a welcome relief as the arrival of the couple’s baby was imminent. The speedy build was achieved despite having to overcome challenges such as parking restrictions due to the house being on a bus lane. On top of that, the only access to the garden for materials was via the front door, through narrow doorways, down a flight of stairs then another 40ft to the garden. ‘Once the team got to the garden they had to work over a giant drop at the back where my neighbours had recently excavated a deep basement,’ says home-owner Billy.
Dream solution
The build went smoothly, thanks to excellent project management and some spot-on design suggestions from Elite Garden Studios. Complete with a desk, TV and sofa, the new garden office is the perfect work space all year round. ‘The room heats up in just five minutes, even in the winter, and the insulation is better than my house,’ says Billy, who describes the quality of construction as top-notch. ‘The team at Elite Garden Studios were amazing at adapting and moved heaven and earth to deliver on time. We’re thrilled with the result.’
